Brain Changes is delighted to be hosting the 2025 Brain Health Summit, in Sidney, Victoria, BC, in collaboration with the University of Victoria and the Victoria Brain Injury Society.
The 2025 Brain Health Summit will span over 3 days from April 2 - April 4, 2025.
The Brain Health Summit is a knowledge translation event focused on lifestyle pillars for brain health. A comprehensive symposium dedicated to the dynamic field of brain health and neuro-enhancing performance. This summit aims to serve as a platform for in-depth exploration and dissemination of knowledge surrounding the six pillars of brain health: aerobic exercise, cognitive exercise, nutrition, limiting harmful exposures, sleep hygiene, and mindfulness.
OBJECTIVES:
Facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration between researchers, clinicians, TBI survivors, and community members.
Integrate the perspective of TBI survivors in Brain Health Education.
Promote actionable strategies, in an engaging way, for enhancing brain health and addressing the multifaceted challenges of neurorehabilitation.
Offer practical applications of research findings to promote the adoption of evidence-based practices.
Serve as a platform for in-depth exploration and dissemination of knowledge surrounding the six pillars of brain health: aerobic exercise, cognitive exercise, nutrition, limiting harmful exposures, sleep hygiene, and
FORMAT
The BCI Brain Health Summit will feature illuminating keynote presentations by experts, engaging/immersive workshops, and a captivating panel discussion. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from thought leaders in the field, contribute their research and experiences, and be part of a national community dedicated to advancing brain health.
DAY 1:
The evening welcome session will feature Dr. Matthew Galati introducing the Brain Changes Initiative and the goals of the Summit. Attendees will enjoy sleep-promoting mocktails, finger foods, and a trainee poster session.
Day 2:
MORNING: Hot beverages, vendor exploration, and locally sourced breakfast followed by a guided breathwork and Qigong movement session. Talks begin.
LUNCH: Brain healthy lunch followed by vendor exploration and an optional walk.
AFTERNOON: Talks resume. Day will close with a panel session focused on women in TBI including researchers, practitioners, and people with lived experience.
EVENING: OPTIONAL FUNDRAISING EVENT, "NOURISH TO FLOURISH," AT THE SHAW CENTRE FOR THE SALISH SEA. Tickets sold separately.
Lectures: ted-talk style; 12-15 minute presentations.
Workshops: breathwork and Qigong practice, brain-healthy food & beverages, infrared light therapy.
Day 3: Immersive Workshops
EARLY MORNING: cold exposure & aerobic exercise, followed by a brain-healthy breakfast.
MID-MORNING: Mindfulness for Children, mindset & meditation for adults, Sleep and Nutrition for the brain.
